Privacy policy

Teleprompt is published by Artifact Creative Foundation. This policy covers the Teleprompt app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
The short version: Teleprompt has no servers and no accounts of its own. Your scripts and your voice stay on your device. If you connect Google Docs, your documents go straight from Google to your device and nowhere else.
Your voice
While the teleprompter is running, Teleprompt listens through the microphone and uses Apple's speech recognition to work out where you are in the script. Recognition runs on the device. Audio and transcripts are used only to move the script along. They aren't recorded, saved or sent to Artifact.
On a device that can't recognise speech on-device, Apple's speech recognition service may process audio instead, under Apple's privacy policy.
Your scripts
Scripts you type, paste or open are stored on your device in the app's own storage. They aren't uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
Google Docs
Connecting a Google account is optional. If you do, Teleprompt asks Google for:
- your name, email address and basic profile, to show which account is connected;
- read-only access to the names and dates of files in your Google Drive, to list and search your Google Docs (Teleprompt can't download your files this way);
- read-only access to Google Docs, to load the text of a document you choose.
Teleprompt can't change, create or delete anything in your Google account. Requests go directly from your device to Google. The text of a document you open is saved on your device so it opens offline, and your sign-in token is kept on your device until you sign out. None of it is sent to Artifact or anyone else.
Teleprompt's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only to show and load your documents in the app. It isn't used for advertising, isn't sold, isn't used to train AI models, and no person at Artifact reads it.
To disconnect, sign out in the app or remove Teleprompt from your Google account's third-party access page.
What Teleprompt doesn't do
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. Artifact doesn't receive any information about you or how you use the app. If you choose to share crash reports with developers in your device's settings, Apple passes them on in anonymised form.
Children
Teleprompt doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If what Teleprompt does with data changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
